Is Mid-Continent University accredited?

Mid-Continent University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award associate, baccalaureate, and masters degrees. (The three-fold purpose for publishing the Commission’s address and contact numbers is to enable interested constituents (1) to learn about the accreditation status of the institution, (2) to file a third-party comment at the time of the institution’s decennial review, or (3) to file a complaint against the institution for alleged non-compliance with a standard or requirement. Normal inquiries about Mid-Continent University, such as admission requirements, financial aid, educational programs, etc., should be addressed directly to Mid-Continent University and not to the Commission’s office.)

What degree programs are offered at MCU?

Mid-Continent University is chartered with the Commonwealth of Kentucky and licensed by the Council of Post-secondary Education to grant the B.A., B.S., B.M., A.S., A.A., and M.S. degrees. Majors include business management, Christian ministries, psychology and counseling (Baccalaureate) and Human Resource Management (Master’s).

Will my credits transfer to MCU?

Mid-Continent University will accept credit from regionally accredited institutions. An admissions representative will perform a preliminary evaluation of your credit to determine the credits that will transfer and what courses you will need in order to complete your degree.

Will MCU credits transfer to other schools?

Most universities and college will accept our credit, however, each school should be contacted individually to inquire about their transfer policies.

What are MCU’s admission requirements?

Students applying for enrollment in an Associate Degree program must be 22 years old, have a high school diploma or GED certificate and at least two years of full time work experience. Students applying for enrollment in a Baccalaureate Degree program must be at least 24 years old, have approximately 60 hours of previous college credit and two years of full time work experience. Students applying for enrollment in a Master’s degree program must hold a Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college/post-secondary institution with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75. Applicants must also have either prerequisite classes in Human Resource Management or two years of work experience involving Human Resources or Management.

Is financial aid available?

Mid-Continent University works with several different student aid programs including Federal and State grant programs, Federal student loans, VA benefits, WIA, Vocational Rehabilitation and Upward mobility. It should be noted that Master’s degree students are not eligible for Federal or State grants, however, student loans and other financial options are available. An admissions representative will have more detailed information about financing your education.

What do I need to do to get started?

The first step is to meet with an admissions representative to listen to a detailed presentation about Advantage. Once you decide to enroll with Mid-Continent University, you will meet with the admissions representative a second time to complete the FAFSA, submit an application for admission, turn in the application fee and fill out a transcript request form.

Are classes available online?

Yes, MCU offers the Associate, Baccalaureate, and Master's Degree programs online.

How long does it take to complete a degree with Advantage?

The Associate Degree program takes approximately 24 months to complete. The Baccalaureate Degree program takes 18-20 months to complete. Completion time for the Baccalaureate Degree will vary depending on the amount of transfer credit earned prior to enrolling at Mid-Continent University. The Master's degree takes approximately 22 - 24 months to complete.
