Dr. Debra Hudson Announced as the Vice President of Academic Affairs and Non-Traditional Program Operations


Mid-Continent University announces Dr. Debra Hudson as the Vice President of Academic Affairs and Non-Traditional Program Operations.

Dr. Debra Hudson has been the Vice President of Academic Affairs at MCU for several years. Utilizing almost 20 years leadership experience in the field of administration and teaching in Christ-centered higher education, Dr. Hudson supports both the Traditional and Advantage degree programs to continue MCU’s tradition of quality curriculum and instruction.

Dr. Hudson stated, “This is an inspiring time in the life of Mid-Continent University. While change is often difficult, it can generate tremendous opportunity and a renewed sense of determination and purpose. Many of the faculty and staff have expressed a firm commitment to the biblical foundation and mission of the University. Regardless of the challenges, it is both the foundation and mission of this University that compels us to continue serving students who are looking for a Christ-centered learning environment.”

Formerly from Colorado Christian University, Dr. Hudson served as the Center Director for both the Southern and Western Colorado Regional Adult Learning Centers, Director of Student Services and Development, Acting Director of the Educator Licensing Programs for the College of Adult and Graduate Studies, and Assistant Dean of Academic Services. As an Associate Professor, Dr. Hudson has taught and developed undergraduate and graduate courses for adult learners in education, critical thinking, prior learning assessment, adult studies, and research.

Dr. Hudson holds a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management with emphasis in Management of Human Resources and a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from Colorado Christian University, and a doctorate in Education and Human Services from Colorado State University. She is past President of the governing council of the Christian Adult Higher Education Association.

Dr. Hudson and husband, Bill, moved to Western Kentucky from the Denver area almost four years ago. Between them they have four grown children and eight grandchildren. They enjoy traveling, ministry, and spending time with their families.

Dr. David Williams will assist Dr. Hudson with Academic Affairs as Acting Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dean of Graduate Studies and Chair of the Business Department.


Mid-Continent University offers the traditional college experience on the main campus in Mayfield, Kentucky. MCU also offers the accelerated adult Advantage option which provides degrees in 27 cities and towns throughout Kentucky and southern Illinois, and online. The unique cohort format allows adults students to fit a college education into their busy lives. Face-to-face classes are offered one night a week with one class at a time. Adults can earn an undergraduate or graduate degree through MCU.
