Sheila has also served on the 4-H Advisory Council for the Lincoln County 4-H for the past six years. In addition to the above, Sheila has also worked in the Lincoln County School System for a total of 16 years, in various positions. These jobs included working with elementary age students as well as high school students.

Sheila said, “If I had to comment on one aspect of my experience with MCU Advantage Programs, it would be this; I have thoroughly enjoyed my classes and professors. I would recommend this program to anyone thinking about getting their associate or bachelor degree. I was hesitant and scared about going back to school, but the professors’ support calmed my nerves. The spiritual component that MCU offers is a definite asset to the learning experience. It was an amazing feeling to know that the professors wanted me to learn and be successful.”

Sheila went on to say, “I cannot begin to describe how excited I felt at graduation. I am so glad I participated in the ceremony and I am also glad that a friend told me about MCU Advantage. If our paths had not crossed, I'd still be thinking about finishing my degree; now I can look back and say I'm so glad I chose Advantage to obtain my Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Counseling.

Angela Jette, from Prospect, Kentucky, was also honored with the Outstanding Service Award for her work as a scout leader, active church member, Class Chaplain, her volunteer for summer camps for kids, as well as going above and beyond helping teenagers.

Angela said, ‘The Advantage program with Mid-Continent made it possible for me, a working mother of three children and wife to a busy husband, to accomplish my goal of attaining my Bachelor’s Degree.  The experiences and friendships built with others in the cohort gave me the motivation and inspiration to succeed.  I enjoyed the opportunity to serve my fellow classmates as I served as their class chaplain.  Our cohort never took devotional for granted but instead took the time to share perspectives and life experiences around ethical and Biblical issues we all face in the workplace.  I am honored to have been able to spark many conversations that led to sharing our hopes and dreams as well as personal requests through prayer.’
