Now Enrolling for Online Master of Science Degree

Mid-Continent University is enrolling for the third Master of Science in Human Resource Management (MSHRM) online cohort group scheduled to start this August.

Wendy Puckett, Director of Graduate Admissions for ADVANTAGE, said, “It is a privilege to serve the community with competitive graduate degree options offered face to face or completely online.”

The master’s degree program was created to address the growing need for qualified, skilled professionals who have strong interpersonal skills and corporate operational expertise. This advancement means more people than ever can experience Mid-Continent University ADVANTAGE through its master’s degree program with courses that will suit their current and future needs. This degree is a way for ambitious professionals to earn a respected credential that equips them with the tools that employers are looking for.

Traci Wallrauch, Director of Online Operations for ADVANTAGE, said, “It is very important to us at Mid-Continent University to provide valuable, career-applicable educational programs that are accessible. The Master’s degree in Human Resource Management provides yet another option for those who want to build on their career beyond their bachelor’s degree, but are unable to afford the time or resources to travel to a class site. It is 100% online, so the only time a student would travel to campus is if they wanted to participate in the graduation ceremony.”

Dr. David Williams, MCU’s Dean of Graduate Studies, said, “The mission of our MHR program is ‘to train graduate students for leadership roles as human resource practitioners and consultants.’ Job growth in the HR profession is projected to significantly outpace the rest of the economy. The graduate faculty at MCU is committed to cutting edge adult education for the current and future Human Resource and Management professionals.”

Katrina Coomer, a recent ADVANTAGE master’s graduate, chose the MSHRM program for several reasons. She said, “My first reason was the Christian influence on the educational environment in the classes. Secondly, the degree was specialized, which could potentially give me an edge over other candidates that have a general MBA… My motivation for obtaining this degree at first was career advancement and to gain further skills in business. I wanted to have them available to me if I chose to pursue additional job opportunities if something happened to my current employer. I had also thought that I could pursue an additional career in higher education by becoming an adjunct professor to supplement my income. However, as I progressed in the program, I found my reasons for being in it changing. While I still hoped to accomplish the aforementioned items, my desire to graduate was now based, in a large part, in my desire to excel not for my career but as a realization that my dreams can come true. By graduating with the degree and having the success in the program that I have had, I feel that I have climbed Mt. Everest. The best part is, I have taught my children that if they work hard and have the desire to do so, they can see their dreams realized.”

Mid-Continent University is a private, non-profit, Southern Baptist affiliated organization. MCU is regionally accredited and headquartered in Mayfield, Kentucky.
